Becoming An Adoptive Parent
Birthparents who make the decision to place babies through Sunflower choose their baby's new family from our pool of approved families. We can help you to create a profile of your family which represents who you are by offering suggestions on biographical data, photographs, family stories, and a birthparent letter. We also suggest that you individualize your profile by any technique unique to your talents, such as scrapbooking, sewing, artwork, letters from your present children, etc. You may elect to have your profile posted on our website also.
To be approved as a potential family, a social worker with the agency will complete a homestudy or adoptive family assessment prior to acceptance. Families who live out-of-state or far away are encouraged to have a homestudy prepared by a licensed social worker in their area. This assessment is then reviewed by Sunflower staff prior to acceptance.
